Ingredients

  • 800 grams (28 ounces) Fresh udon noodles
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons neutral flavored oil such as vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • ¼ cup (20 grams, 0.71 ounces) Green onions (spring onions) finely chopped, to garnish
  • Lightly toasted sesame seeds to garnish

Instructions

  • Cook your noodles according to packet instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  • In a small bowl mix the light soy sauce, honey (optional), brown sugar, hoisin sauce, and salt to taste. You want your sauce to be slightly salty. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a large wok or pan. Once hot, add the minced garlic and minced ginger. Saute for 1 to 2 minutes. You don’t want the garlic or ginger to burn.
  • Add the cooked and drained noodles and sauce to the wok or pan. Stir fry for 3 to 4 minutes. Turn off heat. Taste for seasoning, and adjust if needed.
  • Serve, garnished with chopped green onions and lightly toasted sesame seeds.
